Hijo del matrimonio de inmigrantes polacos formado por Yzrael Bersli Brokmand, año 1871 y Pessa Kohl, quienes viajaron a vivir a Chile.
Nacido con el nombre de Majer cambió su nombre a MAURICIO BROCKMANN COHL, se transformo en un destacado médico y fundador de la Clínica Alemana de Santiago.
Destaca su participación durante la epidemia de influenza y rebrote de tifus 1918-1920 que afecto al país.
