History
Jorge Kaplán, de ascendencia judío rusa, fue médico cirujano y político chileno. Como médico fue pionero en trasplantes cardíacos en Chile y Latinoamérica. En su vida política llego a ser Alcalde de Viña del Mar.
El 28 de junio de 1968, el Dr. Jorge Kaplan Meyer encabezó el equipo médico que realizó el primer trasplante de corazón en la historia de Chile.
Presentó más de 223 trabajos científicos en congresos, recibiendo diferentes reconocimientos por su aporte a la medicina.
